Catching Up on the Blog

Hello to all:

Well; here we are running a few days behind on the Blog, so it's time to do some catching up.

My last update was on Wednesday, January 21st. So let me update you on what has taken place since then.

I would have to start with Thursday, January 22nd. We conducted a monthly service at an Adult Day Care Center in North Andover, Ma. It is such a blessing and a BLAST to visit with these folks. They may be in various stages of Dementia, but they are very sharp in responding to all that goes on during our visit. My friend Susan accompanies me by playing the piano as we sing songs and the folks join in singing the old hymns and choruses that they remember from years gone by. Some of these ladies were Sunday School Teachers from their younger years. We are really looking forward to visiting them again in February. There are usually about 20-30 in attendance, this is one of best attended services that we conduct on a monthly basis.

Next; I have to move on to Friday, January 23rd. Spent a portion of the morning putting copies of DVD's together to be mailed out to Cable Companies and also to Nursing Homes. These DVD's are recordings of our Sunday Morning Services, which are burned to DVD's. We find that doing this as part of the Media Ministry of our church, we are still able to reach souls for Christ. The Cable Companies are located in seven different communities and increases the outreach of our church. On Sunday mornings, our service is live streamed over the internet, and the result is that there are those who have watched from different countries. In two instances, we were able to broadcast a wedding to the folks of both the Bride and Groom to their folks back in India. The second instance was broadcasting a funeral service so that a family member in Antigua. We thank the Lord for the Media Ministry.

Saturday is next on the list. Spent most of Saturday morning at the office going over study material and also my upcoming message. During a home visitation in the afternoon, I received a phone call about a member of our church being rushed to the hospital. I left to join a family member at the ER for several hours, while my wife carried on with the visitation. The patient came home the next day, but we are still lifting him up in prayer. The weather was not the best as it was snowing, sleeting and the roads were getting icy. One note to mention is, I have said in the past, that being in the ministry means that you are just like a member of a fire department waiting for the bell to go off, just like the above mentioned scenario.

I can honestly say that Sunday was more of a normal day.

Monday and Tuesday were days off, but New England was bracing for Blizzard Conditions, and they came on Monday night into Tuesday and all through the day up until about 10:00 PM. We ended up with about two and a half feet of snow. We even had Wednesday off as everyone was digging out. Wednesday Night Classes were also canceled.

Here is a picture of my car about 1/2 way through the Blizzard of 2015

Today; Thursday was spend at the office working on Bible Studies and other material as well. We did make a visit to a local nursing home on our way home, as tomorrow morning might be a little tough as we are having snow once again.

Well; that's the latest updates from the world of family man and being in the ministry.

Blessings.

Good Morning Everyone:

Happy Thursday; Here I am sitting in my office this morning waiting for the time to leave and head off to do  Monthly Service at an Adult Day Care Center, in North Andover, Ma. I'll let you know how our visit goes later today. Looking forward too it as we always have a great time with the folks that come to the center.

This posting today is about what took place yesterday, Wednesday, Jan. 21,2015. I always try to post the day and date as to what is happening, due to the fact that I never know who is reading this Blog and where they live. I do know that there is a Missionary in Japan, and another young woman in Brazil who read the "Word of Encouragement" when it is posted Monday through Friday, so you just never know.

0400 is the time I wake up on Wednesday's as I have breakfast with some of the radio club (http://wb1gof.org/index.html) members every Wednesday morning, and then arrive at the office about 0715. I did not have any Bible Studies outside of the church yesterday, and usually use the time to review the Wednesday Night Study material, or work on putting together the message for the next time that I am scheduled to preach. Yesterday was a little different as the Senior Pastor called to say that he and his wife (church secretary) were not coming in as they were both still sick.

I did have something a little different too do yesterday morning. I went to visit the mother of one of our members who is in Rehab to see how she was doing, and then went to one of the local hospitals to see the mother and father from our church who just had a baby. The baby girl was about 3 1/2 weeks early, but is doing fine. Thank you Jesus.

The remainder of the day was spend preparing material for Studies and Preaching. Adult Bible last night also went well. Long day, but worth it being in the ministry. Have a Blessed Day everyone.

Monday Morning 1-19-15

Good Monday Morning to everyone:

Well; my wife and I are both off today, which is a normal thing for us on Monday's; However; she will go back to work on Tuesday, which I have off on a normal basis. She was sitting and relaxing this morning while I am reviewing and updating the study material for this Wednesday Night Bible Study. We have heard of a Chinese place in Dracut, Ma. that has a buffet starting at 11:30 AM, so we plan on going and checking it out. We will spend the afternoon together chilling out and enjoying the day.

The above comments were of the human nature and as you remember, I try to post on both my family life and the life of a Pastor.

Speaking of which; my previous posting "The Weekend Is Upon Us" stated that I was informed Saturday afternoon that I needed to preach on Sunday morning as the Senior Pastor had come down with the flu, or flu like symptoms. I am happy to report this morning that all turned out well, only because the Lord poured out His Holy Spirit and the Anointing upon us and the congregation, There is not better option to have, than to have the Holy Spirit move in a service.

Although, every part of a service is important; I believe that the greatest joy comes at the end of a service when people surrender their heart to the Lord. Such was the case yesterday. Three people gave their heart to the Lord for the first time and one rededicated his life to Jesus Christ.

Yesterday was truly an awesome day. Thank you Jesus

The Weekend Is Upon Us:

Hello to all:
Well here it is Saturday night, and barring the unexpected, I can sum up the entire weekend in this blog posting.

Friday afternoon, the Senior Pastor's wife sent me a text informing me the the pastor was not sick and showing signs of having the flu. Being a pastor (actually Associate Pastor) you don't like receiving this type of call, but you have to be ready for it. Actually, the Bible says to be instant in season. Meaning be ready to take care of whatever may come up. Fortunately, I had a message that I was keeping in reserve, so Friday afternoon and Saturday morning, we ended up tweaking it, and it is ready for tomorrow morning.

I am scheduled to lead the Worship Service tomorrow and I have the songs picked out for that, but when I received a call this afternoon from the Senior Pastor stating that he most likely would not be there in the morning. He was also scheduled to do a Baby Dedication in the morning, which I will be covering for him. It won't be my first one, so no big deal.

The flu and flu like symptoms are starting to have an impact on our congregation and I hope and pray that it passes very soon. Many folks are on the pray list of our church for just that reason.

Well; enjoy your weekend; as for me, It will be a busy day tomorrow. Praying that souls will be saved. Blessings:

Jacob's Well Today; 1-15-15

Hello Everyone:

Not much to report as far as today's activities. Spent a couple of hours in the office this morning, then it was off to Jacob's Well (JW). JW is an outreach ministry in downtown Lowell, Ma. where we distribute free coffee and are available foe conversation to the homeless community as well as others who may drop in.

Well; today was one of those really slow days, with the temps below freezing, and lightly snowing, only tow folks came in. I believe that they both had been in before. At least one had a cup of coffee, and one took the number for a ride to church on Sunday. We pray that they come and join us.

I also managed to have a late lunch with my wife, but other than that, it was a quite day in the life of this Blogger. See you further down the log as they say. Blessings.

Tuesday & Wednesday Jan. 13-14, 2015

Hello again to everyone:

Just wanted to catch up on the happenings from Tuesday and Wednesday (see dates in title). Trying to keep the blog up to date without boring everyone. My niece, who has since passed away got me started in Blogging; she was great at it and I can only hope to be a fraction of the writer that she was.

Yesterday, Tuesday, I got to have lunch with my two daughters, which is always very special. I love spending time with my family and watching the grand kids grow up, which they do very fast. Being a minister means that you work on the weekends so my days off are at the beginning of the week. I took advantage of that fact after lunch with the girls. I went home and knew I had about an hour and a half before the wife arrived home. So, without turning on the TV or radio, I went for my recliner, kicked back, and watched the inside of my eyelids to see what they were up too. Have you ever had the opportunity to chill out on a weekday? Try it, it's awesome. In this hurry up world that we live in, it's always nice to take a step back and unwind from the busyness of life. The rest of the day was spent with the wife, enjoying each others company.

Well; today, Wednesday is a completely different story. A normal Wednesday morning is waking up at 4:00 AM; to go and meet some of the radio club members for breakfast. I personally, have been doing this for the past ten years and really enjoy meeting with the other Amateur Radio Operators, and the subject can be on any topic. Great bunch of guys.

Today happens to be the second Wednesday of the month, which means that I conduct a Bible Study at an Assisted Living Home, then in the Nursing Home on the other side of the building.

Our talk today was on
2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV
(17)  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

We have entered into a new year, and we can become brand new in Christ by coming to Him for the forgiveness of our sins.

Between the two groups, there were 5 hands raise for Salvation, and most of the room prayed the sinners prayer. Thank you Jesus for the Harvest of Souls.

We also did a hospital visit to see the mother of one of our members.

The rest of the day was/is being spend taking care of other issues and reviewing the material for tonight's Bible Study.

Blessings.

A Great Weekend:

Hello Everyone:

Well; Again we find ourselves on a Monday Morning again; I hope that you all had a great weekend as well.

I had posted on Saturday that we were conducted two (2) Monthly Nursing Home Services. Well I am happy to report that there were, I believe five (5) hands that went up to ask Jesus Christ into their heart, but when we prayed the sinners prayer, it seemed that everyone in the room prayed the prayer. Thank you Jesus for the Harvest of Souls.

On another note; for the last three (3) weeks or so, my sister-in-law was planning a trip to see a woman that she helps out from time to time in Ma. On the same trip, she (and my two daughters) were planning on surprising my wife with a visit from her sister. Well; after the nursing home services, a bunch of family members came to my apartment before my wife arrived home, and were waiting in ambush for Lynne when she walked through the door. It worked! She was caught off guard. Love it when a plan comes together.

It was also planned that we were all going out to eat, which we did at a local pizza place. You can't see me, but I am under the pile of Grandchildren, and I must say; Papa was feeling the love.

You can just barely see the top of my hat over the left shoulder of my grandson in the red shirt.

That is Lynne's sister Sheryl in the front of the picture facing the camera.

After church on Sunday morning, a large group of us (16) went to a local restaurant for lunch. It's always good to gather with family. I don't need to tell you how fast the grand kids grow up.

Here is a picture of my oldest granddaughter with Sheryl

Well; there you have it, a journey through the weekend with me and my family.

One last thing; There was a Wonderful move of God's Spirit during the Sunday Morning Service; lives were touched, and saved, including a family member. Praise the Lord.

Saturday; January 10, 2015

Good Morning Everyone:

Today's blog posting will not be that long, but I will post an update later today to indicate how the day went.

We are conducting the Monthly Services today at a local Nursing Home this morning, and at an Assisted Living Center this afternoon. We sing some of the old Hymns and bring the Word of God to those who are as close to Eternity as they will ever get, without crossing over the line.

People of all ages need Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and we cherish the opportunity to bring these folks the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. A Gospel that can change their lives regardless of their age.

Over the past ten years; we have seen well over 60 people and staff members ask Christ into their heart and for forgiveness of sin. As the Apostle Paul states in Romans 3:23 "All have sinned and come short of the Glory of God."

Have a Blessed day and we will catch up with you later today. Blessings; Pastor Steve

Friday January 9, 2015

Good Friday Morning to everyone:

Well; let me update what is happening today.

Had an early morning breakfast appointment with a friend this morning, then it was off to Lowell General Hospital, in Lowell, Ma. (I include the city as someone may read this from out of state), Visited a woman who will have surgery next week. on her back. We anointed her with oil, (according to Bible teaching) and prayed that the Lord will heal her. We believe in the Power of Prayer.
James 5:14 KJV
(14)  Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

Our second visit was with a young mother who just had their first child. We had prayer with her as well, and I must say, her little son is very cute. Mom, Husband and son all doing well.

Next on our travels was our weekly visit to one of the local nursing homes. Saying hello to some of our Peeps, and informed them that we would be there tomorrow (Saturday) to conduct our monthly service.

If you read my blog from last night, you will remember that I stated that upon arrival at the office, I would see if the Minibus would start as it had to be jumped on Wednesday morning. I am glad to report that Nellie Bell started up without any issues. She will be ready on Sunday morning to transport folks to the house of the Lord.

The rest of time at the office today will be studying material for the Bible Study next week. Prayer time tonight at 6:00 PM, if your in the area, drop by and join us.

Wednesday, January 7, 2015

Here is a quick blog entry; I arrived at the church/office on Wednesday morning after having breakfast with some of the guys from the Radio Club that I belong too. I had in mind to finish up preparing the study material for the Wednesday Night Bible Study during the morning. But before I got started, I went (as is the case every week) to check the fuel status of the small van and the minibus that we use to pick up folks for church on Sunday's and Wednesday's. The small van had enough gas so I did not have to go and fill it up. It started right up even though it was about 12° out, which it normally does.

I went to start the minibus, which is a diesel and is plugged in all that time to keep the engine warm, but when I went to turn the key, it just clicked and nothing else. Great, I checked the log book and saw that it had not been used since December 21st. I wanted to fuel it up, but had to get it started first. I started the small van, which I wanted to do to clean off the snow from the windshield and warm it up so it would be ready later that day to pick up folks for Bible Study. I had jumper cables, which I think everyone should carry, as you never know when you will need them. The cables were connected and the minibus was taking a charge from the small van. 15 minutes later, the minibus started. We let it run for another 15 minutes, then took off for the station to top off the tank.

Upon returning to the church, we parked the minibus, plugged it back in and we will try on Friday to start it and see how it is doing. We need to have it operational for Sunday morning as there will be 2 or 3 runs made between the two vans in the Van Ministry.

Never a dull moment in the ministry. The remainder of the day was used in going over the study material for Wednesday Night. We even received a call from someone asking us to send the van after a new young person who came to Youth Group and enjoyed the lesson taught by Pastor Shawn, our Youth Pastor.

That's it for know, another blog entry on Friday. I'll let you know if the minibus will cooperate in starting without any issues. But we'll be ready. Blessings.

The beginning of a brand New Year:

The beginning of a brand New Year:

OK, OK, Already; I had promised myself that I would start trying, and I emphasize the word TRY to do a daily (or every other day) update to my blog. I do post the "Word of Encouragement" to the blog 5 days of the week, but I am very slack in posting any other updates that goes on in the day to day happenings of the ministry.

So; we will try to correct that issue, even though we are already 6 days into 2015. To get up to speed, I will have to go back to December 24, 2014. We started our Christmas time off on the Wednesday, but we had to fill the Baptismal Tank on that day as we were having a Pre-New Years Eve Service on Saturday December 27th, so it had to be filled, turned on and heated by Saturday. After all; who wants to step into 300-400 gallons (not sure of exact amount of water it holds) of cold, or even  water that is at room temperature. We set the temperature for  103 degrees and prayed that the church would not loose power, but all was well.

During the time from December 23, 2014, till now we had somewhat of a busy time. We had a great time with friends and family members on Christmas Eve; Spent Christmas Day visiting our two daughters, and we ended up taking down the Christmas decorations by 5:00 PM on Christmas Day. Nothing like pushing to get everything back to normal after the Holidays.

On that Saturday, December 27th, we did indeed have the Pre-New Years Eve Service, which included the Worship Team from Pastor Cecilio Hernandez's church. Pastor Cecilio brought forth the Word of God; that was followed by the Baptismal Service, in which the water was truly 103 degrees, which everyone that was Baptized was very appreciative;  then we had a Pot Luck Dinner, followed by a Yankee Swap. Everyone in attendance had a great time.

Sunday, December 28th, the Youth of Lowell Assembly of God conducted the morning service and Jerry Onema preached and did a great job as usual.

The following week was about as normal as could be with the New Years Holiday on Thursday. It is always a good thing to have the time off around the holidays and I always enjoy the time.

Over the course of having the different days off from December 24th until now, we also ended up paying a visit to two hospitals to see folks that were spending some time there. One of which gave her heart to Jesus as Lord and Savior of her soul. One of the others had a procedure done, and the third gave birth to a beautiful baby girl.

While at the office on Wednesday, December 31, 2014, I was checking my voice mail and had a message from a woman whom I had met before at one of the Assisted Living Communities we conduct a monthly at. She informed me that she was just starting at a new Retirement Living Community that will be opening up at the end of January 2015. She asked if were possible to pay her visit to see about starting a monthly service there as well. Well; I am happy to say that we conduct our first service on February 21st. We are very grateful and thankful to the Lord to be able to take on this new opportunity to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As you may recall, we are involved in several Nursing Homes; Rehab Centers; Assisted Living Communities and Adult Day Care Centers. We feel the great need to reach these Seniors with the Gospel, as they are as close to crossing over into eternity as they will ever come without passing from this earth.

On Saturday, January 3, 2015, we had a home visitation in the form of going to dinner with a couple from the church; preached on Sunday, January 4th. The message title was "Are You Inside or Outside The Bottle"? If you want to view the message; go to www.lowellag.org and click on the archives tab to view the message.

Today, Tuesday, January 6th, we attended a Pastoral Breakfast with some other pastors of local churches in the Greater Lowell,Ma. area.

Well now; I think that we are up to date with the blog, and will be spending a couple of hours today preparing the Bible Study for tomorrow night (Wednesday) where we will be starting a new study entitled "The Works of the Sinful Nature" and "The Fruit of the Spirit." Come and join us; we would love to have you. I'll even give you the address.
