Last Tuesday; I told you about the monthly prayer meeting that was taking place at our church, which is the Lowell Assembly of God, in Tewksbury, Ma.
Before the actual time of prayer started; we welcomed Rev. Dan Stanley to the group, as he the new pastor of the Riverside Assembly in Methuen Ma.
The group that assembled was one of the largest prayer meeting, with ten pastors in attendance, and one studying to get his license to preach. Jacob had just recently graduated from Zion Bible College, in Haverhill, Ma. Not only did this meeting have the largest number of attendees, but it was the most powerful time of prayer, I believe that this group ever experience.
Moving on to Wednesday; the weekly Bible Study at a local nursing home went well. On the Assisted Living side there were only four ladies that attended, but the great part was that three of them asked Jesus Christ into their heart. That made Heaven Rejoice that three more names were written in the Lambs Book of Life.
Today; Thursday, August 04, 2011 was supposed to be a quiet day working in the office; “WRONG.” I knew that I might have to make a hospital visit about fifteen miles away, which turned out to be true, but the rest of the day was totally unplanned.
Just before leaving for the hospital visit, I received a phone call from a gentleman stating that he had called three other churches to ask for assistance and all he received was a recorded message; (don’t you hate that) stating that there was no one there to take his call. He told me that he expected the same when he called our church, but we staff the office every day from about 9 AM—3 PM. He told me his story of how he was a stranded truck driver trying to get back home to Florida. He and his wife (they were a driving team) had gone to upstate New York to land a job and just two days before he was to start, he had a heart attack and spent two months in the hospital recovering from a triple by-pass. Long story short, he ended up putting his wife on a Greyhound Bus and sent her home and he was getting a ride with another trucker back to Florida. We ended up having breakfast together and the church was able to give him some assistance in getting back home.
You just never know what a day will bring forth, so expect the unexpected.
